Hiring a Lookalike to Pretend to Be You Because You're Fat WTF

I recently watched a documentary by Oobah Butler on Vice, about a guy who hired a better looking more confident lookalike version of himself, to attend a high school reunion. I was initially saddened that a guy was so down on his luck he felt it necessary to have someone pretend to be him. I could only imagine the pain he felt, of not wanting to be seen as himself. He was bullied at school and made fun off because he was fat which is enough to knock anyone's self-confidence.

Hiring a lookalike to Pretend to Be You Because You're Fat WTF

He came from a nice enough family, wasn't short of money and was planning to take over the family dental practice. He was your typical fat American. Not obese but certainly in need of shifting some timber. On top of that, he had lost his hair for the best part, which I know from first-hand experience, it can massively knock your confidence. I felt sorry for the guy.

But as the programme went on I started to change my mind - what a lazy fucker, I thought to myself

Also slightly taken aback by the realisation of what the world has become. What is the point of existing if you are just going to get someone to pretend to be you? Whilst you do what exactly? Sit on your fat arse eating a burger and slurping on a Diet Coke?

The guy openly admitted he wanted to send someone better looking, more confident and comfortable in social situations. That statement itself is social proof of peoples lack of ability to communicate in the real world. Any number of things could be attributed to why - fake news, social media, dating apps, childhood trauma, the filtered society that we live in.

Or...

He is just plain fucking lazy.

The money he spent on hiring someone to pretend to be him, could have been better spent on a PT and a barber and actually become the person he wanted to hire. I would argue that in today's society you can change just about anything you don’t like about yourself. Arse, tits, lips, butt, even your cock length. Let's not forget that all of that is superficial anyhow.

It's how we feel inside, right?

How would he feel if he got himself down the gym, lost weight, looked after himself better, and stopped eating junk food? He still might not look like Tom Hardy or Ryan Gosling, but I’d hedge my bet and say he would feel much better about himself.

I guess we all have a different way of approaching life
